Biography
Ashleigh Higgins is a photographer based in Cornwall, specialising in portraiture that centres women and their lived experiences. Her work explores themes of health, identity, and personal narrative, using photography as a way to document the realities of women’s lives with honesty and sensitivity.
Working primarily with natural light and an intuitive approach, Ashleigh creates images that feel calm, intimate, and authentic. She is particularly interested in how photography can hold space for conversations around health, both physical and emotional, and how visual storytelling can bring visibility to experiences that are often overlooked or underrepresented.
Her current project, Unseen, is an ongoing photographic exploration of endometriosis, chronic illness, and the dismissal of female pain. Combining intimate documentary imagery with abstraction, the work reflects on visibility, vulnerability, and the emotional realities of living with a condition that is so often misunderstood or unseen.
